September? Seriously?!

Been very busy lately crafting cards for Teacher's day. Its that time of the year, in Singapore, where we celebrate a special day for mentors on a day in September to show how much we appreciate them. They are like second parents to our children in school. I made an easel card with their wacky class photo (surely, they know how to make fun).
And who says school is boring? For my son, the first year in primary is nothing but fun and play. Well, except of course for exam days. I guess we all felt the same during our younger years. Hope you liked it and be inspired to do the same...

Thanks for dropping by... Cheers!

Home within our Home

Hello there and welcome!

Welcome to our tiny hideaway where we share the love for all stuff related to art. This is our indoor playground cum study corner. So while I do my craft, my son does his school work and I watch over him. We occasionally camp in here as well, to watch a movie or just laze around listening to music.

Thanks for dropping by and taking a peek at our cove, a little piece of heaven on earth.

Matthew's 7th Marvel Party

Thrown a party for my 7-year old boy who persistently ask me for a superhero party. So we decorate our house, and the place looks like we're celebrating 4th of July in January! I got my inspiration from Kara's Party Ideas (superhero theme!) and costumize according to my preference. There are tons of ideas out there. The only key thing for me to materialize all the details of your event, is that you have to put ample time and a clean timetable. For my son's event, I did it all in 4-weekends. Thats the only time I have since Im working full-time. Hope this gets you inspired, and plan ahead for your loveone's birthday, I must say the photobooth was a hit for the kids and the parents too. Oh and the balloon arch, tons of videos in youtube! Goodluck!

...Minions For Children's Day...

Hello there! Welcome to my blog.

Today, Im going to share on a project I (We) made (with other half's collaboration) for my son's giveaways.

Hubby and I made something fun and artsy the other night for my son's party in school this coming Friday. Matthew had been quite fond with the Minions that he asked me if i can make some for his friends like a goody bag.

And being the crafty Mom, I cant say no to a challenge, though it was thought to difficult and tedious. To make it fast and easy, you gotta sort things out/plan how to make it systematically. One thing good though was that, hubby played around with me and was somehow showing particular interest with my craft tools. And even promised to buy my a cutting machine for Christmas *wink*. Cant wait for Christmas.

Materials:
Any A4 size craft paper (preferably 220gsm) for goody bag
               Printable Minion Eyes.
               Black paper sheet (Eyes/Specs backround)

Then, you can just put them all together. Paste here and there.

DIY -- Washi Wheel Tutorial

Hi There! Welcome to my blog.

Today's post is something quite different. Its a brief tutorial about a project which was inspired from Allreadymemories's Washi Wheel. This came quite timely, since I was looking for a storage unit to hold all of my washi tapes together. I dont have much but I love to keep them handy, within reach and easy access.

And since the washi wheel sold online was quite hefty for me (considering the exchange rate + shipping cost), it had been very discouraging. So I asked my husband if he can help me DIY something similar. So we bought all that we need from a local craft store keeping in mind the dimension that requires less alteration.

Materials:
  i. 2pcs Circular Wood:  6" in diameter and about 10mm thickness.
ii. 6pcs wooden rods: 11" in length and 10mm diameter
iii. 1pc wooden rod: 12" in length and 10mm diameter

iv. 1pc 9"x12" rectangular wood for the base.
v. 2pcs 2"x 4.5" wooden stand

Tools:
Wood drill with 10mm drill bit
Hammer  + Nails
Ruler + Pencil
Protractor

Here's how:
1. Spinning Wheel.Find the center of the wooden circle.
Divide the circle into 6parts (60deg/part) using a protractor.
Mark the location for the rod holes. You may use below as a guide.
Drill hole on each mark using 10mm drill bit.
Tip: To achieve good alignment between the 2 woods, you may clamped them and drill at the same time.

Result should look similar to this.
Note: Holes are 10mm from the edge.

2. Base. Prepare 2 wooden stands 2"W X 4.5"L
Drill on one end to create a slot, about 10mm in diameter.
This will accommodate the spindle of the wheel.

3. Nail the two stands in the middle on the wooden base. You can use a screw to make the stand sturdy and able to hold the weight of the tapes later on.

4. Start putting in the rods in the holes. Note that the center rod is longer as this will be the supporting rod that will rotate the wheel. At this point, you can start putting in the tapes. About 15 tapes in a rod.

5.Cover the other end with the other circular wood.
About half an inch should protrude at both ends of the wheel.

6. Finally, you have your own washi wheel.
I'll finish this with spray paint in teal or white.
